SPECIAL CHILDREN'S EVENTS
Light of Christ believes in the value of training families in developmentally appropriate spiritual practices. These are our special once-a-year opportunities for parents to plant a "spiritual seed" in the children's lives and grow together in faith with your child.
Fifth grade families join us for 2 fun workshops that will help your child understand why and how we take communion. We even stomp grapes and make communion bread! Upon completion of the 3 workshops, participating fifth graders, celebrate their First Communion together during a worship service. This milestone occurs in April each year.
Our Lord's Prayer Dinner and Workshop is a special time to enjoy a meal together and then share in a fun workshop designed to easily teach your child the Lord's Prayer. Then the following Sunday these children will be invited up front to lead the congregation in the Lord's Prayer before communion. This program is for Kindergarten through fifth graders. You won't want to miss this!!!
We offer two Bible workshops: the first for Preschool age children where we have some fun "planting the seeds of faith" in your child's heart and mind. They receive a storybook Bible for you to read the main stories of the Bible in easily understood language along with illustrations.
When a child reaches third grade it's time to get a new bible of their own. In this workshop your child learns to open the Bible and discover how to find their way around, and how to make reading the Bible a meainingful part of their day. Then come back on Sunday to receive a blessing!
