ADULT MINISTRY

Light of Christ is a thriving environment where adults are growing in faith and connecting with others in real and authentic ways. We offer many opportunities to grow and connect...explore our groups and activities to see where you may jump in!

Men's Ministry:  Larry Crabb in his book "The Safest Place on Earth" describes community as connection between men on their walk to spiritual development. He says that, in community, men find a safeness and similarity among themselves that allows sharing and the crushing of barriers. The men of Light of Christ are not only crushing those barriers, but eliminating them totally in their lives. Come join us as we offer a multitude of opportunities to connect...small group studies, Men's Breakfast (2nd Saturday each month at 7:30 - 9 AM, Sept-June), and many other ways of serving together, playing together and praying together.

Women's Ministry: There is nothing as wonderful as being in a group with women, doing life together, learning about the Lord together, laughing, crying, sharing and exploring faith. Light of Christ has an enthusiastic community of women from all ages that gather to learn and grow, laugh and love, play and work. Our Women's Groups range from studying God's Word to retreating for a weekend of growth and laughter, to figuring out how to be the Mom God wants you to be.   There is a monthly Girls Night In (2nd Thursday of the month from 6:30 - 8 PM), the annual women's retreat, Bible studies, and regular serving opportunities.

Couples Ministry:  Couples gather monthly for a chance to bring God deeper into their relationship and reap the benefits.  It's always fun and often challenging.  This is the place to keep your relationship on track and work with others to find what God intended for each other.  There are several couples Bible study groups.

Sports Ministry:

  • Softball: Light of Christ adults (age 18+) participate currently with two LOC teams in the Crystal Lake Park District co-ed League, playing at Lippold Park on Friday evenings. There is a cost for shirts. Signup begins in March.
  • Bowling: We also have our own bowling league that meets Sept-May at Liberty Lanes in Carpentersville, once a month for lots of fun and a little competition.  It is a handicapped league so all are welcome!  Signup begins in August.
  • Pickleball: Light of Christ has a pickleball social gathering 3-4 times per season, meeting at Stoneybrook Park in Algonquin. This is a drop-in event, taking place on Sundays at noon after worship. We invite individuals or families to bring a picnic lunch and play pickleball, sand volleyball, basketball, cornhole or play on the playground equipment.
